Street Dance & Street Jazz

Street dancing offers a great way for dancers to work on their physical strength and stamina as well as flexibility and self-confidence. Students will learn popular moves and styles such as urban, old school, hip hop, breaking, locking, popping, house, etc.

Street Jazz is a blend of several styles including jazz with hip hop and other popular street dance moves. Students are encouraged to step outside of the box by incorporating their individual styles and personality into their movements.

Musical Showstoppers

Explore the history of musical theatre and dive into the magical world of showbiz while learning some of the “triple threat” skills of acting, singing, and dancing. The many benefits of learning musical theatre include developing self-esteem, confidence, and creativity while building performance skills and a portfolio of songs.

Ballet & Jazz Combo

Ballet strengthens the entire body and substantially increases flexibility. It also instills an inspiring mix of commitment, discipline, and artistic expression. Jazz dance is a form that showcases a dancer’s originality and consists of fancy footwork, big leaps, and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance.

Ballet/Jazz/Tap Combo

Dancers will enjoy this interactive class that builds on basic movements from ballet, jazz & tap dance. Jazz dance includes proper warm-ups and stretches for the body combined with across-the-floor progressions and combinations. The tap dance portion of the class will concentrate on building confidence through mastering more difficult patterns and steps. The ballet portion of class includes an introduction to the barre and learning more challenging steps.

Acro Dance

With a focus on fundamental acrobatic and tumbling moves, this class teaches flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline, and concentration. Students will learn skills such as front and back rolls, headstands, backbends, cartwheels, walkovers, and back handsprings. This class is strictly floor work with a gym mat and students do not perform any gymnastics with bars or beams.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is all about flexibility and the connection of both body and mind through fluid movements. It is an expressive style that combines elements of classical ballet, modern, jazz, and lyrical dance. It also puts emphasis on floor work, improvisation, and versatility.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance combines the elements of ballet and jazz and is all about smooth, fluid movement and expression of emotions. It is often performed to songs with lyrics and focuses on the dancer’s emotional responses through the use of movement to convey a story.
